I just saw a post by geekdafied.... and i was going to post a reply... then it said this thread was invalid?!?!

frag pricing questions...

Well apparently RC deleted my silent auction saying they dont allow that.

So who knows what the going rate is on Eagle Eyes. bam bams and florida ricordeas?

I have a 60-70 polyp eagle eye piece that I dont know what to price it for.

I also have 2 14+ polyp bam bam frags

What is so bad about asking these things and stating facts about what RC did? Why are so many posts being deleted and modified lately by RC? Is RC trying to drive us away from here? Politics as usual? I've caught at least 4-5 posts and/or threads in the past 3 days that have been mysteriously modified or deleted.

What forum was it posted in?

They are very clear in the rules about no auctions and fishing for pricing in the wrong forums is usually frowned upon as well.

FWIW, Chris

It was posted right here...

Listed in italics is exactly what he posted. I guess RC Mods didn't like him retorting what happened?

Sure its against rules and its factual what they did... no big deal right? So, why delete the post asking what XXXX is worth? Poeple in this club do this all the time in the MTRC forum.

I've also noticed they are very selective about what banned words they have. Air water ice for example can't be linked to. Why? Maybe because they aren't a paying sponsor? Or maybe they didn't renew sponsorship? Its just getting to where the forum isn't as "open" as it use to be.

Yeah well you can't do that.

Anytime something is sold the price is supposed to be posted with it. We are lucky they let us get away with selling things in the club forums to be honest.

It's not anything unusual or new Ryan;)

I just don't see anything wrong with that last post he did. I don't know geekdafied and have no reason to take sides other than to speak my mind with what I believe is right or wrong.

All I can say is politics. I guess it all just depends on who you are. I've just not noticed so much moderation until late.

Im talking in PM's witht he mod that keeps doing that. There was nothing wrong with asking that question.

I have no idea what the going rate is for them. Isnt forums where you're spose to ask questions like that? It is coral related, I would need to know what the value is of something before I can put a price on it. Thats why I asked. I have seen eagle eys sell from $5-$45 per POLYP. Thats retail value though. I wanted to know the forum value. What they typically sell for. I am not a buisness. I have a prop tank, but its for personal use/QT.

Well we just had 2 big arguements in this forum in the last few days. You haven't noticed because that hasn't happened in quite a while. I would suspect the Mods are doing their job and watching closer than they usually do to make sure things have calmed down.

Chris

Well if you want to know what a price of something is you can do a search for it on the sales thread and you will see what things are going for. Any frag is worth what some one wants to pay and another wants to sell it for. Auctions are for e-bay not RC as the people in charge of RC have stated many times in many threads. I also have seen threads that have had Mods that are a lot more sensitive then ours and I like ours so it would be nice not to push the issues as you will not win. The fact is this is a private forum that is free so they have the right to censor as they wish. I am not saying I agree with all of there rules but they are their rules and if we don't like them we can start our own club board as others have done.

Of course Geek they may not be watching our board more they may be watching you. :D I know there were some layers calling around asking ? about you.

FWIW Wayne makes a good point about figuring out pricing ( and about our right to be here:p ). I personally go to the sales forums and look at similar items to the ones I am trying to get rid of. Then I look at the threads that those actually sold pretty quick in and go from there...
Chris

We do take more freddoms than I think we are allowed, so Wayne makes an excellent point not to push too much. It is a no win...

Usually, a 10-15 polyp frag of just about anything is going to run $15. For specialty items (purple deaths, PPE's, nuclear greens, etc.), you'd get more, but for most things, $10-15...

If something is priced $100 in say cali, it may not go for that around here. Could be a lot more, or a whole lot less.

lmao@wayne

I did not know you could not ask what the value of something in you tank is. That is odd, but its not a democracy here, its a privlege.

On a side note I could not find anything in the agreement that seemed to indicate that you could not ask about the value of the item aside from the outrite ban of all commercial activity on the forum. Below is an exerpt of the agreement. I suppose you have to be careful about what you post, it seems like this rule is broken all the time.

Well since we got out of the pony express when you talk zoos if a piece goes for 15 here and 100 in cali I would post in there forum and mail them. But if you really want to make some money get some of that rare aptasia and go sell it on e-bay with a reserve of $100 I am sure there are some people in Cali to get it.

By the way what is the deal is the Tunze 6200 worth the extra $$$$$$$$?

Back in all of my buisness classes, I did learn something, lol... As long as there is buyer willing to pay a high price for something, there will always be someone trying to sell it for more, lol. In the saltwater trade, the general rules of buisness do not apply. The demand doesnt matter as much even when the supply is high. If you make the customer THINK they are getting a good deal, they will pay whatever you want. Zoanthids are so hard to price because everywhere you look, they have a new name for something that looks identicle to something else, and they charge more for the new name, lol.

That is odd, but its not a democracy here, its a privilege.

Considering advertising, its just as much (if not more) of a privilege for RC to have a healthy population of people contributing to the forums.

p.s. geekdafied, I don't like your signature. :P And yes, I'm sour today.
