What is the difference between Lord and Acan?

Could someone please explain the difference between a lord and a an Acan? Thanx nicole

want to know what i want to know, no offense to anyone btw, but how come on almost every single "ID" thread on lps forum is always idetifying an acan or a lord? i understand there are different species or genus etc. but does it really matter what the difference is?

Shouldn't that be species as the genus is Acan? marillion
had it right the first time, Acanthastrea is the genus, lordhowensis is the species.

Probably because they're popular and people are buying stuff without knowing what they are. Sometimes I buy things without knowing exactly what they are.

To some people it really does matter.
