sand sifting sea stars tend to live within the sand bed, searching for microfauna and detritus upon which to feed, and they have the structure of what most people think a starfish should look like.
serpent stars, as far as I know, don't burrow in the sand much, but rather hide in the rocks on the seafloor, and are more carnivorous than anything. They are a type of brittle star
