What Is The Live Sand Like?

I was curious as to what the consistency of TBS LS is like. So if you have it, please post pics. I was hoping it would be more "sandish", and not as much "gravelish".

Also, if I get the TBS LS and find it is too course for my taste, could I mix in some dry CaribSea Sugar Fine Aragonite?

This unlike what you see in stores in bags labeled "live sand".......is real live sand collected from the base of the reef.......and is what mother nature provides to her reefs...

Richard,

Do you have any pictures of the rock by itself? and the sand. Not in a DT.

Yup

look around on my website!

Here is a pic of mine. Yes it looks gravely but it is mostly made up of crushed shells and such. It really looks natural, like you I was afraid it wouldn't be "white" enough and look dirty but I really like it now that it is in the tank

I love the look of this sand!

I currently have 40 lbs of live sand in my tank (local store, not TBS) and 10 lbs of GARF grunge (which is doing absolutely nothing). I was wondering if I should take this sand out when my TBS order arrives, or just put the TBS sand on top? I don't have anything valuable in this new tank yet, just a very few critters....

Best not to go over 1.5 to 2 inches deep, as the critters cannot effectively stir a deep bed.....so if you want the sand, may be best to remove some of yours.....what comes with the package gives you about 1.5 inch depth...

Ok, thanks.

Thats what I thought you'd say... Wish I had found you sooner...would have saved me bunches of money!

Wish I could return it LOL

Since I already have live sand and rock in my tank, I was thinking that I could go with the 20 gal package and just remove 30 lbs of my sand, add TBS sand on top and add the live rock around the already existing rock. That will give me 90 lbs of rock total and 50 lb live sand.

Just a thought. Sounds like it might work though.

Hey B,

Yea Richard will work with you on that. I kind of had the same problem, til I upgraded to a 20.

The next step will be to the 75 and combining the 2 tanks I have and adding another package hehe.
