What is this Acropora coral?

Hi,

I created a link about what I thought was a deepwater acropora and was advised to post here to establish the identity of this coral.

There is a link for a bigger picture in my original post.

Cheers

Deepwater Acros are usually a Bottlebrush type of Acropora with smooth skin. This does not appear to be that. Do you know anything about the mother colony? Does it plate/table, branch/cluster, stag?

If I had to take a wild guess I would say maybeeee Acropora subulata.

Thank you very much for your response.

You have made a good point by asking about the mother colony. Unfortunately, I do not have any information about it. I was going to buy this coral, but on this basis I decided not to.

I have been doing some reading on "deep water" acroporas. Is there really such thing as "deep water" acropora? It appears that many acroporas, which may be classified as deep water can in fact be found high in the reef structure, e.g. Acropora lokani.

Okay. No problem.

Deepwater to me is generally is saying where it primarily grows. Just like saying a lagoon coral, or crest coral, etc. Most Acropora found in each of these areas tend to develop the same features.
