what is this below my ZOO's...

i am trying to identify what this black thing is growing below my zoo's.. the zoo's right above this thing have been closed up for about 2 weeks now...

i cannot see it moving like a slug or anything.... its just there and growing...

Black sponge seems to be different than other sponge & needs serious removing. If you can get the rock out, brush it off with a toothbrush.

You can get various sea slugs that eat sponges..that should be able to get rid of it...and if it runs out of sponges to eat...just trade it back at your LFS.

i have the same exact thing on a zoa rock. its a black sponge from what i've seen. mixed reviews on it being good/bad... i have left mine alone.

I have a bunch of those black sponges. IMO, I've never noticed they do any harm to anything.

+1 same for me...they don't spread around or seem to do anything bad...
