My green carpet does something similar to this from time to time...probably something happened that either upset it or he's eating? At any rate, he should eventually return to his normal habits.
Just tenticle reaction, something must have triggered the nymatisis (poor spelling). Just keep an eye on it and if stays that way then start checking your water params ect.
Mine do that every once in a while, usually when they caught a little piece of food. If it only stays like that short term I wouldn't be too concerned.
