What is this thing? Some kind of coral?

This came growing on a piece of live rock i bought from an established tank. What is it? The top is about the size of a nickel.

Almost looks like a shroom. Sometimes the will "stand up" on an elongated stalk like that.

Probably a Cabbage Leather, hard to be sure from this angle.

after adding appropriate light i noticed the edges have come alive as seen in the pic. The edge seems to have a bunch of little anemone looking things which open and close, usually a bunch at a time. This is cabbage?

Yup, Cabbage Leather.

Sinularia Durso or something like that.

If it had a hard base, I would say it would be something from the pagoda family.

The way those tentacles come out in groups like they are, it lends itself to not being a soft coral at all.

Unless it is hard and stoney, it's a young little cabbage leather.
