what IS this?

I found this last night on my tank wall. i have only seen it once before, and it only comes out at night. it is maybe not quite the size of a dime. when i went to catch it last night with my net, it split in half. it left behind whatever the sticky part of a snail or slug would be, stuck the the tank. the other half looks like a snail, but the shell looks kind of soft. it looks completely diff. now than what i thought it looked like last night. im taking some pictures and they'll be up in a few minutes....

Stomatella snail. They are good guys and will drop their tails when stressed.

Again it is a Stomatella snail.

what exactly do stomatellas do? they don't munch on any corals or clams do they?

nope! they are good to have and help keep the tank clean!

They also reproduce quickly in our tanks.
