Are either of them bad ?

hmm..

If your into that then nope its not bad...

But it is a sign of too much nutrients (phosphates/nitrates from over feeding, over stock, uncycled aquarium, messing with the sand bed too much, etc. etc.) I'd start buying a CUC for that while it's still just starting.

O lol learning new Acronyms I only have 4 snails and 1 hermit about 1/2 - 3/4 inch and 6 hermits 3/8 - 1/2 1 pompom and 1 cleaner shrimp I bet that's not enough but they seem to keep it up should I get more and if so how many of what Is suggested

I have the above and
star polps 2"x4"
3 head of ducan
1 head of purple mushroom
1 Blue and yellow tail damsel 1 - 1 1/4"
1 three strip damsel 3/4 - 1"
1 Blue hippo tang 1 3/4 - 2"
1 Ocellaris clown 2 "
1 percula clown so I was told looks like a dark orange no black lining the white strips 1 7/8"

Then copepods and ambipods then then what's in my refugeim

My dkh is a tiny bit high should be 9-12 I'm told and it's at 14
nitrates are 5-10 maybe 20 ppm which lfs said that's OK
Nitrites are 0
Ammonia 0
Calcium 540
Ph 8-8.2
Phosphate 0
Temp 79-80 f
Specific gravity 1.024

In a few im going to test again after I eat I'll update them then

Salinity 1.024
Temp 78f
Ph 7.8 lights been off for 3-4 hrs
Dkh 15ish 7 days ago was 14
Calcium 500ish 7 days ago was 540

mag is low, your alkalinity is way high O_O and your calcium is way high to, want near 400-440

+1,
Alk, I was told ranges around 7-11 dkh. The small traces of nitrates is feeding that hair algae.. its no big deal now, but it won't take long before it goes crazy. My 29 (the picture earlier) got hair algae the first month during setup.. it started small like yours, and 2 months later I took that picture..

Lol, my alk was 27 dkh at one point  I blame 4 months of daily dosing of reef buffer. Now I got it all managed (took awhile) and no longer use any buffers. Just do some small water changes here and there to keep everything where it should be.

Are you by chance dosing your tank with anything? (asking because of the calcium levels)

Not dosing anything long time ago I used reef buffer and then looked at dkh lol. Won't use it again. The calcium I'm guessing is the salt I use instant ocean reef crystal salt I tested it while back on new water for water change and calcium and dkh was higher then should been but I only tested as soon as I stired it and not after a dayish of mixing

I would take a water sample to your lfs to get tested. Sometimes test kits go bad and give inaccurate results. Compare your test results to their's. They even have an expiration date on the bottles.
