What is this??

I noticed about three days ago my vlaimigi tang that I've had for over 2 years has developed this white spot on its body about 3/4" in diameter. He's eating and acting normal, but I've never came across this problem. I was suppose to trade him in for a smaller one Friday. If anybody can help me out by diagnosing what this is and how to go about treating it I'd appreciate it.

Looks like a bacterial infection to me. Sometimes it clears up on it's own, sometimes it's best to QT & treat with antibiotics. How long have you had this fish? If you've had him awhile & he's healthy, then you might try soaking his food in vitamins (i.e. Selcon, Zoecon, Vita-chem) to give his immune system a boost.

I have a mata tang with a similar spot. Sometimes when he is aggravated it would show up. Then go away the next day. Its returned in the same spot after several months of not seeing it a few times. Now he is very big and I haven't seen it in a while. Never too a pic of it, but it was a perfect circle like that.
