Hi everyone. I'm still relatively new to salt water aquariums and I have a quick question! I have this frogspawn coral I got in September and just noticed a little tube growing off the side of the plug. Does anyone know what it is? Or if it is harmful at all? Thanks in advance for your thought!

That's what I was thinking it might be. I was actually blowing detritus out of the dirt and uncovered it, never seen it before! Very cool...

Another quick question. The red algae in the picture. Is that cyano bacteria? Is it harmful? This tank is at my place of employment so I am not the one who always feeds it. No matter how much I tell my coworker designated to feeding it to feed less, I happened to come in this Sunday and the tank was covered in food! It is a small tank of only 5 gallons. Once again, I explained how much to be feeding it and hopefully that works, but I have seen some solutions for red cyano bacteria at my LFS. Is that a decent solution?

Thanks for the reading, it was very interesting! In your opinion do you think that I should get rid of it? They seem to be for the most part harmless unless it reproduces enough to overtake my tank or any plumbing, Which I do not have very much of. Although, the species that it said where most likely to become pesky with great numbers it also said only extended to 3 to 5 mm, and I am almost certain this one is already longer than that. Thanks for any help

Depending on water quality, they can multiply quickly. You'll notice when you do water changes or add supplements to the tank they'll throw out a web that almost looks like snot. You can superglue them shut to get rid of them.
