There is something growing on my zoas. And they don't seem to like it. Where there used to be coral there is now this purple stuff. Almost like corraline on a rock. What is it? Do I need to do anything?

Your zoas look to be receding. Whats protruding through is just the rock they were attached too.

What are your parameters?

Lighting?

I'm not really seeing anything out of the ordinary in that picture, but you might want to give them a freshwater bath or perhaps dip them in something like Revive or Coral Rx just to be safe. Maybe there's some sort of unwanted hitchhiker lurking among the polyps.

They're definitely receding slightly. Water parameters are good. All my sps ate happy.
Alk 3.3 meq/l
Calc 460
pH 8.3
Nitrate 5
Phosphate 0.1

Lighting is 174watts of DIY leds 4 different ranges of blue and purple and 42watts of 10k white and 2xT5 39 watt. 1 actinic 1 8k

Nothing has changed recently is why I'm worried about a possible parasite. It's been growing fine under these conditions. They were on a plug so that's not what's protruding. You can't really see well but up and slightly to the right from the plug edge is what I'm talking about.

If they are receding something is wrong. Could be too much flow. Could be not enough flow. How many days have they been like that. If only a couple of days. Would wait to see if they get better before changing where they are

Is it in low flow area. I read too low flow can make Zoas melt. If your sure your water is on point. It might be that

No if anything it's too high. I can't move it easily either. It's grown over the plug into the rock.

I would retest your water make sure your test kits didn't expire. But not sure what else the do

Reach in and pluck it out. Or suck it out with a turkey baster. I leave the ones in my tank alone but they don't seem to eat zoas.
