I assume it's a type of bacteria? Not sure if good or bad, only grows at the rim of the tank where the return is pointing. It appeared after my cycle was complete. It's like a mucus film.
I'm not sure what that is exactly, but if you've got an area that stays moist and you incorporate some light into the mix things are bound to grow. Just get yourself a damp cloth and wipe down the rim of the tank on a regular basis. Piece of cake.
It was an article about this same thing a few months back. Anyway turns out that the hobbyist that were experiencing this was either a smoker or they burn scented candles near the tank somewhere. If you don't do neither of these, I have no clue what it may be. One admitted it stop burning the candles and the mucus went away.
This would make sense, my wife loves her scented candles and she has them on our dining table which is next to the tank. Is it harmful to the tank at all?
