What is this?

Anyone have some ideas on what this is? It had to have come in on the LR 4 months ago. It comes out periodically & today while it was out it had what looked like little puffs of smoke coming out of it. This happened about 5 or 6 times before it went back into the crack in the rock.

It's a Stomatella varia snail.

Totally harmelss and quite beneficial.

The puffs of smoke means it's breeding time.

Excuse my ignorance but what is its purpose? I was told those little puffs of what looked like smoke was its way of reproducing.? Is this correct?
