What Is This?

My live rock is infested with carpets of a slow-growing, green plant-like pest. It's not aeptasia - they're much smaller and have a firm, wirey 'stalk.' Some are alive and have 'florettes' that look and behave very much like a tiny aeptasia. Others are dead, but leave behind their firm little stalk, sticking up like bristles on a brush. Scrubbing them with a toothbrush isn't particularly effective. If you pinch them between your fingers, you can pull some of the stalk off, but most of it remains attached to the rock. Very stubborn.

I'm now soaking some of my live rock in various baths to see if it'll kill the junk without harming my purple algae. So far, no luck.

Images are attached. Note clownfish at 11 o'clock for scale.

Any ideas? Maybe if I can at least identify the stuff, I can better attack it.

Thanks in advance.

My guess as well is colonial hydroid. Not really sure what all kills larger infestations without possibly killing the rock too

I honestly don’t know what would eat them. I’ve thankfully never had to experience them
