What is this?

I've read about this before, and can't recall what it is.

I think it is a ball anemone. Or something like that. I have one in my tank about the size of a quarter and have been told it is harmless. Neat looking anemone. I squirt some mysis at it when I am feeding the tank and he loves it.

I think I've seen them called glass anemones....I think they would be undesirable as I've seen some live rock covered in them...kinda like aiptasia...may be wrong though.

cup coral (Caribbean, I think) and I think I've heard them called glass anemones, too (sharing the name with Aips). They have a calcarous base, though, and like low light.

i have tons in my tank cup coral has my vote they tend to grow on the undersides of the rock

correct that is a cup coral, low light, I have had some that have survived several crashes, being practically buried, etc. for 15 years

Thanks all.

In looking at the photo, I see that I have two on that rock. There's a tiny one under the large one.
Anyways, I like them and hope they do well. Thanks for the light recommendations....they were under the bright light area, and have been moved to a lower light area.
