What is this???

I have a had this true perc in QT for the last month.
I have given him 4 total formalin baths over that time frame. All visable signs of brook have left, however there is still some rapid gill movement.
Anyways, I decided that he was healthy enough to introduce into one of my dispaly tanks. The rapid breathing is still occuring...which I'm wondering if it is gill damage from brook.. but other than that, over night he grew this on his lower lip. Any suggestions for treatment and such??..it looks like a white fuzzy patch

i use q-tip with iodine when i get that on any new clown. works every time for me. just have to make sure to avoid it from the eyes. you want to leave the iodine just enough to slightly stain the skin.

im not sure i would recommend to the average person though. i learned this treatment for kois , and so far it has saved about 4 of my clowns. if your not careful donig it, you can kill the clown.

oh im sorry lol

unless you have a microscope and can do a scrapping, you ll never know for sure. but ive always surmised its some form of fungus or bacterial infection.

whatever it is, iodine will kill it. if its on the inside also than you just have to hope for the best.

go to local pharmacy and buy the strongerst iodine possible. i think its 10%soln.

but if its still eating, focus on water quality. if its breathing hard, i would be careful stressing it out more.

but im impatient so i always use iodine.

best of luck.

thanks again, hey how are the young ones doing. I would really dig seeing an updated picture on here or on something fishy...let me know.

thanks

Do you think that the rapid breathing is associated with gill damage from the brook..? or can it be signs of other things such as velvet..?
