well its a purple mat, right? Thats how gsp grows. The polyps look like gsp polyps. Its just really bleached looking to me, which could be from lack of light or bad params or both. I've seen that happen a lot, specially on stuff at the lfs where they dont have good lighting and whatnot.
 
I'll see if I can get a better picture later today. I agree that it shares some simalarities with Green Star Polyps...

The picture above looks very similar.
 
I'd say definitely not xenia...xenia does not grow on a mat like that at all. There is anthelia, which looks very close to xenia, but still doesnt grow on a mat like that coral above is, and looks much different (the polyps) anyways...
 
Its not GSP, and its not bleached.

It is encrusting gorgonian- probably Briarium. If I remember correctly, GSP is no clonger considered Pachyclavularia, but has been reclassified as Briarium as well (making it a gorgonian too...).

Typically grows very fast, and can be quite invasive. It is aggressive towards neighbors, so give it some distance. Sturdy stuff.
