What is this??

Hey guys,
I'm curious to see if anyone can ID this crab, pls.

I've had my tank running for close to 2 months and I'm assuming this was a LR hitchhiker, but I haven't seen this crab until today. Anyone know what this is? Is it harmful??

I don't have a specific ID, but I can tell you that it is probly an omnivore in which case any corals/fish/inverts may not be safe.

It would be best to put it in your sump or give it to someone with a FO tank.

anyone have an idea of how to catch this guy?

Take a tall glass with some bait at the bottom and lean it up against where the crab hangs out. Make sure it's fairly steep. The crab will crawl in to get the food, and not be able to climb the glass back out.

Looks like a pom pom (boxer) crab or related species. They dont get very big and dont really cause any problems.
