What is your favorite live rock cleaner?

Just changed out my RO membrane 3 wks back after 14 months. The algae seems to have died but there is this brown fuzz on all the rock. Is there a critter that I can add that will polish them up?

I have been hitting the tank with Y2k Zyme and added a sea hair..

Any more suggestions ?

don't bother adding supplements to get rid of the algae (I'm guessing thats what the Y2KZyme is for. I HIGHLY doubt that you'll see much effectiveness from it.

The trick to cleaning up the liverock is to have a correctly sized cleaning crew who can handle your tank, and I find that overfeeding in a lightly filtered system causes more algae problems than anything else.

Do you know why you're getting all the algae? NO3, PO4, silicate from the tap water, etc? It sounds like you're well experienced from your tag at the bottom, but still, there are so many things to check on to find out why there is algae.

But the quickest way is reduced feeding. And the fish can handle it too, most fish don't need to be fed more than once a day if your filtration system can't pull it all out right after feeding.

also re: the y2kzyme, it is bacteria that cleans like a mofo.

I used to use it a long time ago and dose the tank weekly.

at that time I never had a lick of algae or detritus.

Imagine that....

I think your best bet is a clean up crew. Nothing really will do much of a better job. Although, i use to have a redsea sailfin tang that would eat any type of algae in the tank. It even ate the Cyanobacteria i had. They're gorgeous too.
