What is your favorite reef additive?

I've been nearly sold the miracle reef additive by just about every store I've been to. Funny thing is every miracle additive is different and most stores bash the other "miracle". What one aditive have you used that provided you with the best results or worst results?

time, lots and lots of time and work. if there really was a magical additive that did what it stated everyone would have a tank of the month, and corals would be flowing out of everyones tank and you wouldnt see hundreds of threads here a day about "what wrong with my tank"
Anyways, save your money for corals, fish and equipment- if you keep up with good maintenance you won't need any snake oil.

I knew I was going to get at least one answer like that. You must have a favorite additive or series of additives that work for you or else you would just be adding plain water to your tank. Has anyone tried Marc Weiss products such as black powder or combo vite or Fiji Gold with any sucess. I for one have tried Fiji Gold and found that it didn't do much but cost me ten dollars. So lets try this one again, it' sunderstood that ALOT of time and patience is needed, but what is your favorite additive?

At this point, none (besides salt). I am looking into Kalk. I've been a firm believer on frequent water changes. I would love access to natural sea water!

I use Kent turbo calcium and baking soda to buffer my Ca and Alk to where they need to be and drip kalk. Once a month I check Mg levels and adjust as needed. That's it. Everything else seems to take care of itself.

Kalk and Mg.

I tried that Black Powder crap when I was first starting out...yeah I could of just as easily burned that 20$ bill and sprinkled that in my tank for all the good it did me.

Kalk PLUS B-Ionic. And RODI Water! In fact.. thats my favorite. Clean, pure WATER! There is nothing more important in this hobby when it comes to maintenance than water changes and using good top off water!

Dont add ANYTHING to your tank that you cant test for.

Other important additives: Magnesium, Strontium, Iron (for macroalgae and corraline!), Iodine.

Kalk and Phyto.

If I wanted a Marc Weiss product, I could go out and buy a bottle of Apple Juice for a fraction of the cost of what Marc Weiss wants for theirs.
