What kind of Anemone do you have?

And why do you like/dislike it? Just wanting to get some ideas for the 150 gallon and would like some input (I know it will be a while before it's ready for one). Pictures would be great, Thanks!

I have a Rose Bubble Tip and a Green Bubble Tip... :D

I don't like them only because not all clowns will host BTA's... My Black Ocellaris prefer my Duncans to the RBTA... The GSM's love the GBTA...

Matt can give you a better idea of pairing clowns with anenomes... It seems like every other issue of TFH has an article mentioning it... I can dig one up if you like...

I'll try and get updated pics sometime, but I doubt it will be any time soon...

Bubble tips seem to be the favorite. I like them, just not sure that is the one for me  . Does Matt breed clowns? Sell them? Is he Fishboy42? Thanks for the help guys!

He was at the last meeting... :) He doesn't always make it out because the hatchery keeps him busy to say the least...

Ok, I drug out the magazine, so here it goes...

Percula and Ocellaris:
Stychodactyla gigantea (Carpet anemone)
Heteractis magnifica (Ritteri anemone)
Sychodactyla haddoni (Saddle anemone)

Sebae Clown (A. Clarkii):
Heteractis malu (Sebae Anemone)
Macrodactyla doreensis (Long-Tentacle Anemone)
Heteractis magnifica (Ritteri anemone)
Stychodactyla gigantea (Carpet anemone)
Entacmaea quadricolor (Bubble Tip anemone)

Tomato Clown (A. frenatus):
Entacmaea quadricolor (Bubble Tip anemone)
Macrodactyla doreensis (Long-Tentacle Anemone)
Heteractis malu (Sebae Anemone)

Maroon Clown (Premnas biaculeatus):
Heteractis magnifica (Ritteri anemone)
Entacmaea quadricolor (Bubble Tip anemone)
Macrodactyla doreensis (Long-Tentacle Anemone)

Pink Skunk Clown (A perideraion):
Macrodactyla doreensis (Long-Tentacle Anemone)
Heteractis malu (Sebae Anemone)
Heteractis magnifica (Ritteri anemone)
Stychodactyla gigantea (Carpet anemone)
Sychodactyla haddoni (Saddle anemone)
Entacmaea quadricolor (Bubble Tip anemone)

These are all listed in order of preference for the species... Not all of these anemones are hardy so keep that in mind...

You didn't have to do that! But thanks! I REALLY want a carpet (a green one), but it looks like they eat little fish :( .

They're pretty hard to keep also... You should definately have a mature tank before attempting to keep them... Actually most anemone's need to be in an established system... I'd hold out and look for an aquacultured speciman if you're patient enough... But that's JMO... ;)

Thanks guys! I am going to be patient. I don't want to rush anything just wanted to have my research done.

Hi Kim :D Here is an online clownfish/anemone book to help with your research that has a lot of anemone information/pictures and the natural pairings listed (under both the anemone and the clownfish pages):
http://www.nhm.ku.edu/inverts/ebooks/intro.html

Of course the natural pairings aren't guaranteed, but lots of "unnatural" ones are possible as well.

I had/have a bunch of BTA's (green/brown), but they can split a lot, as some of the ETRC folk know ;) I do like LTA's since they don't seem to move as much (once established) and don't split too often as far as I know.
