What kind of anemone is this? *hitchhiker pics*

Found this on some liverock I have in a trashcan for my new tank. I know that's aiptasia in the backround...but what kind of anemone is the other one?

I don't know the id for the anemone, but I've one for years. It's caused no problems and hasn't divided. They demonstrate an interesting feeding response--very fast. They are sticky, so I would suggest you keep it away from other cnidaria.

Looks like a Majano sp. Common pest anemone, though substantially prettier than Aiptasia.

Some people have them and they never cause problems, others have them spread like crazy.

No, it's not a majano anemone. Every once in a while someone will post asking for the id. No one seems to know the species, but they seem to be somewhat common hitchhikers.

Huh...alright. Looks pretty majano to me, but I've never been the best at ID'ing hitchhiker nems.

Strange, I guess I'll try my best to get rid of the aiptasia and leave the anemone. Hopefully the peppermint shrimp will ignore it, I kinnda like the way it looks.

I think its majano as well, i have some and they are taking over one of my rocks like crazy, they are hard to kill, if you notice it splits pretty quick i would nuke it fast.

What would be the best course of action? I have already added some peppermint shrimp in hopes they will take care of the aiptasia.

Joes juice or vinegar. I tried squirting them with boiling water and it didnt work. Next thing im gonna try is getting a syringe and stabbing them and filling them with joes juice. hope it works cuz they are getting out of control!

I picked up some Aiptasia-X by Red Sea...I'll give it a shot!

Maybe Majano but you might also want to look into club-tipped anemone. They aren't too common but they have a similar appearance to the one you have.

if you don't have joe's juice, you can attempt to carefully remove it from the foot, like an anemone. From your pics, it appears to be lodged into a crevice. Or just wait till it moves to an area where it's easier to pry at the foot. If it's on the glass, even better (credit card will do the trick). But of course if you attempt to do this with aiptasia, you're bound to leave a small portion of the foot and they'll just grow into a new one Majanos will too, but they're not as fragile as aiptasia. Yeah its not majano, i have one too. its some sort or club tipped anemone. Not a lot of info out there one them. Mine has never moved/gotten bigger/split. It's pretty sticky but small. Mine looks exactly like yours though.

you could try kalking the sneaky little guy works with almost any pest

You can also try injecting plain old lemon juice into the body of the aptasia. I had an infestation and used that method and they're all gone now.
