Need some ideas on what reefers use as containers to keep your ready made salt water.
Had a cheap 30 gallon trash can from ACE but it seems that the salt water was reacting to the container and causing issues.

Doug you wil do anything to setup another tank in your basement...lol

Thanks for this I'm thinking of using a Rubbermaid Brute as I have one for my RO water and a matching set would look ok.

Thanks Everyone!!

I also like the HDPE containers from F&F. I wont use a garbage can.. Every one that I have ever seen has ened up with a nasty slime build up or a nasty smell. Even with just RO/DI, but much worse with kalk or salt water. The containers arent that much more than a garbage can...

What makes you think there is a problem with the container? IO salt leaves a slime behind.

Rod, I had the stink issue when I wasn't keeping the lid closed tight. Now that I close it I get no stink. There is some slime but that's gonna happen anywhere, no?

Hello Joel
I have been using Instant Ocean for years, never any slime issues here to report. But I mix and filter all new salt water for a minimum of twenty four hours, in a glass aquarium...

Not slime but a residue on the bottom of the container, sort of whitish grey. Many report that.

Mine mixes for longer, often a week or two, in a 44gal Brute with a Mag 5 running.

I was using Reef Crystals and I had a nasty brown/red slime that would develope in the Rubbermaid 32 gallon trash can. I've switched to a 65 gallon HDPE from Farm & Fleet ... and switched salts to Tropic Marin.
