What kind of drill bit....

I'm not big on DIY stuff, but I want to drill a hole in one of the baffles in my sump so I can keep the skimmer pump in a different compartment than my Chaeto. Hubby suggested this cone shaped bit and it just didn't look right. What kind of drill bit should we use on a thin piece of acrylic? Thanks.

If its just acrylic I've drilled holes before with just a regular hole saw. The biggest thing is keeping it cool so it doesn't melt the acrylic :).

Your husband is recommending a uni-bit. For this application, it's basically the same thing at a regular drill bit. If you use a hole saw, be it diamond coated or regular wood teeth style, have the hubby pour water on the cut as you're drilling. This does wonders to prevent melting. Goes from melting so bad it's not worth doing... to zero melting what-so-ever.
