what kind of epoxy do you use for a plywood tank? where could i get it?

There are many types of epoxy. The most recommended is the West System epoxy, and Jamestown Distributors is a good place to get it.

Some other brands that have been used are US Composites, Raka, Brew Coat, etc. just google them.

I wonder if it would also work well as a coating on top of a wooden tank stand?
I am using a single pre-catalyzed epoxy paint on my stand. Its water and mold resistant, but not 100% proof.
do you guys think it would be a good idea to do a coat with this clear epoxy resin? Couldn't hurt, could it?

You could always use a 2 part epoxy paint.

The west system epoxy is uv sensitive, so any exposed areas would need to be painted over anyway. Though it may not be necessary is low light areas like inside or on top of a stand.

ok thanks for the link. I have already painted the back and bottom of my stand (had to lay it down on the ground to do that), so that moisture cannot wick up from the exposed ends.
For the 1part, I used an oil based primer. Would the primer still benefit the 2part stuff, or could it actually be harmful?
I'm still debating weather to get 2 part stuff or just use my 1part. I know the local cary swimming pool is using the same brand of 1part epoxy for most of their walls.

i dunno, getting a little past my knowledge base on this issue. In most cases, a good quality paint and a good quality application is all that is necessary. The epoxy paints maybe not even be worth it in this case.
