What kind of LED Light

I am considering the purchase of a 36x37x18 tank. I would like to light it with LED lights to save on heat and energy. Can I get away with one unit and still be able to have SPS and clams?

What is a good controllable LED that will not cost a thousand dollars?

Depends on what fixture you get. To light a tank that size with LED I think you're going to have to spend at least a thousand anyway. Do some research. I just spent about 3-4 weeks looking for something and ended up going with the Orphek, but there are tons out there including a lot of cheaper Chinese knock-offs which may or may not be a good thing.

they are right, if you want to stay less then 1k you will need to build it. Its not that hard. You can buy complete kits with high quality cree-xpg's here:

Its really no more then a heat sink, a driver, and some leds hooked together...
