Thanks,
It has taken over my fuge. It grows fast and knocked out the other macros I had in there.
Next question. Is it good for a fuge?
I'm new to using a fuge so I have no knowledge of macro algaes.
Green Grape....Yea, it's a good macro, really soaks up nutrients. I have tons of it myself. Trim regularly... I had to make a live rock barrier in my fuge to seperate from the prolifera on opposite side, otherwise it will take over.
I had it all over in my tank at one point, had to trim it back constantly... now someone in my tank has decided it likes it.... I'll be lucky to find any in there anymore.
If the reason for a refugium is to export nutrients..Id say you found a winner. Just keep trimming it and thinning it. I found CAULERPA prolifera to be excellent, for the same reasons. it completly took over and I thin out two fist fulls every week from a 10 gal fuge.
I woke up one morning and found my tank to be cloudy . I looked down and dang near hit the floor. All the algae there was dead. Turns out this stuff like to do that. I read that it does it to reproduce. I pulled out all the dead mess and left a small clump of it about half the size of my fist and within 2 weeks I was back to trimming it again. Didn't seem to do anything to the tank inhabitants when it did die off. It's in a 20 long refuge and my Yellow Tang just loves it when I take a piece of it and put it into the tank.
