What kind of parasite is this.I crawled out of the gills on my new golden puffer after it passed.I think it is what killed it.It looks like a rolly polly bug you find under rocks only this one lives in saltwater and has hundreds of stickg legs and a nasty looking mouth.

I just saved this picture the other day, but I forgot to write down what they were. I'll see if I can find it.

Mine was white and internal. It did not come outside until the fish was dead and then it came out his gills.

I agree with Dragon, get that fish out and take care of it. All you have to do is pull them off carefully. Wear gloves so you're not next.

Had them devour a damsel before I found out what they were. Luckily he was the only fish in their, then many nights of siphoning them out. Always hung out on the glass by the sand at night. Good luck

Parasitic isopods!! Disgusting!! I had a problem with them.....luckily my clowns swim right into the feeding cup so I was able to catch them easily and pull the one or two off. But I set up a net with krill in it at night and caught a few more that way. Knock on wood....haven't seen any in a while. Although what you have doesn't look like the isopods I had.

My buddy had a problem with them and I think he said he bought a fish to take care of the problem. I can't remember what fish It was?

the white one that came out of your puffer was an isopod. They are extremely common in arothron puffers. they live in the back of their throats and can grow to about 2".

It probably wasn't what killed it but instead the isopod was probably looking for a new host since the one it was on died.
