I saw this tang on a thread, what kind is it?

Mine was sold to me as chocolate tang-juvenile. cool fish, have had it for over a year with PB, Blue tang

That is actually an adult chocolate tang. The juveniles are known as yellow mimic surgeonfish. That particular color variant is from Tonga.

Believe it or not I got it at local Petco for $14.99. I got it before they released it into their so called saltwater tanks.

If I am correct, PetCo has discontinue all of their SW livestock. Anyway, who wants to buy fish from PetCo anyway. All their fishes look dead or are already dead. Better off having your LFS get one for you.

The store in South county(Lake Forest) still has them. The manager will order anything I want and I just pick it up on Wed with the shipment. Fish never empties into their tank. They get their fish from same places all the other fish stores get them from. Have 3 fish from there over a year, all very healthy...no diseases. maybe I am the lucky one. I know I would never buy one once it enters their tanks though

Petsmart is strictly FW and feeders, PETCO has SW selection along with FW. maybe some petco stores are limited in their aquatic selections. some may not carry SW fish, not sure on that.
