What kind of worm?

Cleaning the tank today and reaquascaping I found a worm that is earthworm like in appearance. It has a bit of a tube around it - kind of like a hawaiian feather duster tube with a little sand attached. Only covers a small portion of it. It is pinkish/light purple in color and around 2" in length.

Anyways, this is is the best I could do with my old camera:

I tried to find pics of what feather dusters look like out of their tubes, but could not.

So a night of high reaquascapping hopes turns into a worm hunt. Sometimes things just don't go right. I think I found more of it or there is a bunch. It does look like most of the pieces have cut ends, but I do have two pointy ends - not really sure if that is good or bad. I just wish I knew what it was - good or bad.

Anyways, best of the bad photos below:

Why did that guy have to post that pic of that worm that was multiple feet in length. Dang, that just keeps running through my head now. :(

I am pretty sure those are feather duster worms out of their casing. I dug mine out re-aqua scaping and they looked just like that. I had 3 pieces of the same worm and reburied them. After a few months they had grown new casings and dusters.

Thanks Paintbug, that's it!

I found an article indicating it "deposits copious quantities of black oval fecal pellets on the sediment surface." I've seen these little black things on my sand for awhile now, but didn't think too much about them. Must be worm poo.

 I'm not sure my colleagues would agree! It's more accurate to say I know more than most reefers.
