I had my aquarium about a year and all of a sudden I saw this! Its outer shell has like polyps outstretched. What kinda snail is this and is it bad?

When a fish brushed up against it, the cover split to show a shiny smooth surface .

It appears to be a ring or money cowrie. They're probably the only two (or possibly 1) species of cowrie that are truly reef safe.
