What makes a nano a nano?

I am just curius what make a nano a nano?

a lot of people classify a reef tank of 30 gallons or under a nano. (though there are people that go a bit more each way.)

basically its a smaller reef tank.

The tank size is what makes a nano a nano, normaly it is 29 gallons or less

That is what I thougt but was thinking it might be what you keep in it that classified it as a nano

Is it a nano considering just the tank size or the volume of the sump/fuge, if you have one, as well?

I would say just the display tank size makes it a nano, but i an not an offical ............. just my 2 cent

IMO 30 gal and under is a nano and it really doesn't matter how many gal the whole system is.

is the size, for what i hear was a company that start calling their small tanks "nano" so it got like a general name for display tanks under 30g, and if im not wrong under 2.5g are picos

i thought that anything under 5 gal was concidered a picto, but i could be wrong
