So i did so much research on how to build and get the water into the tank, now im kinda lost.

I know i need to start testing , so which tests do i need? iodine, mag, cal, ammonia, ???

What else should i be doing while the tank cycles?

Where should i test in the sump or the tank?

Also when I need to dose, should i add it to the sump or the tank?

During the cycle, all you need to do is test. For nitrites, nitrates and ammonia, that's all for now. Later you will want to test for phosphates, calcium, mag, and anything else you dose for.

I test out of the sump. Easier to get to for me. Also, I dose into the sump. Don't go overboard on the dosing. When you have livestock that will deplete the trace minerals in the water, do water changes, not doseing. After years with my tank, I change water every 2 weeks. During the off week I test for calcium, magnesium, nitrates and phosphates. I am not saying that will be right for you, just works for me. You should do weekly water changes to keep the trace elements at the best levels.

I think I just did one of those " do as I say, not as I do" things. Anyway, follow your research, keep asking questions, and good luck. After all, you've trained hard for this, now get in there and give it your all!!

Boy, I forgot to add more than I added. You will also need to test for pH., alk, sg and temp. That should cover it.
