What on Earth is this?!

I found both of these while dipping my new sun coral.

The shrimp is red with no front claws. Not sure if it has them and just lost them, or what.

What puzzles me more is the slug! It's @3" long, grey with baby blue "Shields" along its back!

Any ID help would be most appreciated! I want to know what I should do with this duo!

(If the pic isn't working, which it doesn't seem to be, it's the first picture if you click on my gallery)

the pic won't link becasue you used the lettter "W" "T" "F" in your file name, so RC is going to block that with ***..

Rename or upload to photobucket

Has some limpet characteristics if u ask me. Do you know where your sun coral was collected by chance?

The slug is a chiton, Cryptoplax species. It's most like Cryptoplax larvaeformis, and is a harmless algae grazer.

Cheers,

Don

The "slug" is a chiton. Look here for more information on them. I've had them in other tanks but not currently. They are cool, keep it.

Thanks guys! Guess it goes into the tank! Still a bit unsure about the shrimp. How bad can it be without claws, right?

LOL J/k! For all I know it lost them during shipping and next molt it will get them back!

The shrimp belongs to family Alpheidae, the snapping or pistol shrimps. What you all don't know is that the "typical" species with 2 large claws are outnumbered by the ones with a single large claw or two small claws. Harmless.
