what power heads to use?

I have a 125g tank and wanted to know what are some good power heads for the money. How many should I use and what kind?Looking for the best bang for the buck!!(without going over board) Thanks

I have 2 Koralia #3's and 1 #1. They are quite and I have amazing flow in my 72g bowfront

Another vote for Koralia. 4 #4s should do the trick in a 125.

I like Koralia's as well. You can also mod Maxi jets fairly cheaply and they produce a lot of flow. If you want to spend money there are a ton out there. Tunze and Vortech will set you back a little...

You can actually purchase the parts at almost any LFS or online supplier. They run about $20.

Yea, I would do 2 Koralia #4s in there and add some MJ's till you get the amount of flow you want. If you want though, Tunze's are amazing, but they are incredibly expensive ...

It really depend on what you are keeping. SPS need a good flow. If you were going to keep Softie 2 koralia #4 is good enough. I had 2 #4 in my 125gal. I like the Koralia over the maxjet. Now I have 2 vortech for SPS.

I vote koralia's. I had MJ's before but the koralia's are just a better built power head. IMO

You can buy the kits at marine depot or premium aquatics.

If you are going to use a wave maker then you want to stay away from the Koralias as they are unable to be run on one.

I think it's the fact that they aren't capable of being turned on and off 50+ times a day. The plastic propeller has to turn from 0 to 1000 rpm's lets say, so many times a day that they wear out. They get noisy and it's too much stress on the impeller. I think some wavemakers work, just not ones that shut off/on the powerheads completely.
