What protean skimmer do you have?
What protean skimmer do you have, and would you recommend it?

I have a sea storm in sump skimmer. Not the best but the small footprint fits under my tank

I don't run a skimmer. Its been working really well for me so far but I keep a pretty light load of fish.

I have a corallife 65G super skimmer that was on my 34G cube as HOB and now in sump on my 75g. I *HATED* the hob bubble trap, but I like the drain line fitting off the nice big collection cup and sturdy construction and materials that allow me to run ozone with it.

but one thing I don't care for is the constant clogging of the venturi air fitting. I have found that problem on ALL venturi designed skimmers. Is their a different way to do it?

on a footnote one of my favorites skimmers to run was a Lee's counter-current air driven skimmer.. that was PERFECT for in tank skimming super quiet and reliable.

ELOS NS 500. Down draft injection skimmer. As long as you plumb the ATO into the injector to clear salt creep, it works great

ASM g4+,AQUAC EV-400, ETSS 600, PM bullet 2, aqua c urchin, aqua c remora, and I've had a MTC hsa 1000...they all are going to have pros and cons. needle wheels are usually best pound for pound Ie.. performance and efficiency (low energy usage)..most of these that I have are high performance but need large pumps to run them..If you have a small tank and want to do a hang on I would go with a remora pro or aquamaxx has a good hang on ...If you have a sump the sky is the limit..try needle wheels like: asm,octopus,bubble magnus,etc..or mercedes ones like atb,vertex,bubble king..

Thanks for all the responses, but if some of you guys could post pictures of your skimmer and how its hooked up. I got to see how SeeSick’s set his NAC7 up and was very helpful. Maybe like Reign and Gomer or anyone, if you could post some pictures I would appreciate it.

Nothing better then the octopus skimmer!!!! I personally have used most of them. But like the extremes the most. In truth, they are best bang for your buck. Thanks

I have never needed any support for any of the skimmers that I have owned in the past. I purchased my bubble muggs from BRS if I need anything they will take care of it"¦they have already sent me an extra impeller"¦
