I use a Dart for sump return and two Darts for closed loop on the 390 I'm setting up. I hope they're as good as everyone says.

it all depends on how many gallon you want to run through your sump and how far you have to push the water back into your tank... i would not push more than 2,000 gph or you will be asking for trouble.. darts, barracudas etc are great for closed loops but i feel they are too much for returns...

i used to run 2 pan world pumps.. now i run a reddragoon 10m3... probablly the best i have ever seen and never heard...( dead quiet)

Wow you werent kidn about the $$$$
Decisions Decisions …. I am starting a 300 or 375 and have been contemplating the dart pump myself. I wanted to originally use the dart so I can have 2 1½ returns on each side of the tank. This tank will be an in wall room divider. I am using a 55 as a sump. Noise and power consumption are big concerns of mine. That’s why I liked the dart.

Other has mentioned on the forums the same thing about too much pump for the return. I was thinking of starting out with something smaller for the return. Just liked mentioned on this forum. Something that can feed 2 1½ on each side of my tank. Then use the dart for a closed loop, with an OM 4 on a timer to conserve power. What pump can handle a few feet of pipe. I already have a pair of maxijets too help.

So I have a couple questions?

For the 375 with a smaller pump can I use my 55 gal as the sump?

What pump can work in the sum and have enough power for 2 returns?

Then how do I hook up the calcium reactor? Does that tie of the sump pump? Should I figure this into the calculation?

What about returns? Where should they be for the open loop, and closed loop?
