I think a club project tank would be cool as well. A few months ago my son was in the NICU for about a month. During that time I made a lot of trips to the cafeteria. They have a sw tank that is several hundred gallons and has such potential. It is a pitiful sight to see though. It has a tomato clown, a severely wounded Sailfin Tang a damsel and another fish I didn't recognize.
I know it would be a major undertaking to organize a project like this or even get permission to do it. I just thought how cool it would be for us as a club to takeover maintenance on the tank and turn it into something inspirational and educational to the visitors and patients of the hospital.
I think that some informational literature could be placed near by to help answer all the questions that the children have. It was amazing how many questions the little kids asked their parents. Some parents obviously knew a bit about SW and others obviously had no idea.
WOW!
Looks like the winds of change blew in
I like the project idea but what kind of social event could be done?
do you mean like this http://www.midwestfragfest.com/ ?
Or do you mean pizza nights?
I like social stuff! Pizza taste yummy
I second painting faz's living room (since i seconded it i don't have to do any work right, just watch and drink beer?)
seriously though I would love to be part of something like the hospital tank! Anyone in the club could get permission to take care of it it could be made into something beautiful it has a lot of potential!
If there was project helping ata ahospital doing upkeep on a tank there. I would be a willing to make calls and whatever to get the tank back up on its feet. I would suppose they have a maintenance company working on the tank which could be an issue, with a club stepping in to take over its upkeep.
Make a schedule with a rotation. Start a thred to share its information. Etc. Etc. Etc. If you guys dont do this then I might try to organize some other campiagn to get it done.
The Ronald McDonnald house could be a possibility. Its a really good charity that might have interest. I might also be able to get the club at my son's high school to do some of the daily maintenance routines. They are alwaays looking for public service projects. Nothing like having Nemo, Dory and "the tank gang" hanging around when you are not feeling well.

This has always been a favorite of mine, the only problem is getting people that are interested in having a bunch of people over.
We used to have meals after meetings as well when they were at people's houses, I like the "non-formal" part of that also, we were thinking about meeting for lunch after meetings for interested people, ya gotta eat!!
