its late at night, lights on my DT are off but there's light in the living room.. i'm about to go to sleep look over and my clowns are rubbing their belly on a piece of claypot I had put in the tank for them to lay eggs... I am bout to turn off the living room light. should I turn it off or let them finish ... what they're doing>

I don't want to get too close to check if its got eggs on there so that I won't spook them... what should I do next time?

Just leave it on and let 'em finish. Probably wouldn't both them if you turned it off though.

I have had two pairs of spawning clowns. Ocellarius and Perculas. Both pairs always laid eggs in the late afternoon when there is plenty of light anywhere between 1:00 and 6:00 Pm. They have never laid late at night. However they always hatch for me after dark. I can always predict when they are about to lay because the male will clean his spot like crazy, then the female will stick out her ovipositor or little tube that she uses to deposit her eggs on the nest that the male has cleaned. Yours are probably showing signs they are getting the nest ready. Watch your female and feed them both well. Good luck and keep us posted!
