What should my PH be in my FOWLR set up?

I have a 60 gallon fish only with live rock tank and just was doing a routine check on all the levels in my tank and noticed my PH has been consistently at 8.4. Is this too high for a tank that doesn't have any corals? I know corals need a higher PH of around 8 to 8.4 but I don't know if 8.4 is considered too high for setups that are just fish with live rock.

also, regarding PH. If I need to do freshwater dips for one of my fish in quarantine right now.. should I worry about the PH of the freshwater if I'm only doing 10 second dips twice daily? One of my fish went into shock after the last dip and didn't know if it could be related to the PH or if it was just due to the fact it got netted and dipped into freshwater, lol.

pH 8.4 is fine even for a reef tank so i'm sure it won't be a problem for a fowlr. it will fluctuate throughout the day.

as for freshwater dipping the fish, you'll need to have the same or very close pH and temperature. otherwise, the fish can get shocked and pretty stressed. freshwater dips won't cure ich if it's what you're trying to accomplish. i'd suggest the tank transfer method for treating ich.

thank you!! and yes i'm looking into all sorts of cures for ich, my tang just has it really bad and wanted to maybe ease the discomfort with some dips, but he just went absolutely nuts after it :(
