I am ordering some stuff from Bulk Reef Supply tonight for my 120 build and want to get my return pump but have no clue as to the size.

Here is what I all have so far:

Coralife Turbo-Twist 6X 18 Watt UV Sterilizer
Midwest Aquatic Sulfur DeNITRIFIER 7 x 15
(2) Deluxe Black BRS Carbon and GFO Reactor
75GPD RO/DI 5 Stage *PLUS* System [12]
(2) VorTech Gen2 VorTech Propeller Pumps w/ Wireless
GEO 6x12 Calcium Reactor

Any suggestions? I was thinking of the PanWorld 100PXX - 1270gph
But since I'm a n00b I will defer to the experts.

Are you doing a FO tank or reef? With a Calc reactor im guessing a reef?? I just bought a Mag 12 for my return pump on my 125gal with a 40gal sump....Most people wont use a UV sterilizer on the home reefs... Your right in WI is www.drfostersmith.com cheaper for you since they are in WI?

Ya I didnt figure sales tax on that! What is having you decide to put a UV on the tank? I have always heard great things with the Mag drives, might wanna check them out i have 2 one for skimmer and another for return.

I have had a mag drive 9.5 on my 120 for 5 years now. Actually, the pump has been in service with no problems for over 8 years total. Pretty good track record.

I figured I paid extra for the Starphire Glass front, so I want the water as clean as I can possibly get it, plus in the scope of things the $125 UV Sterilizer is a relatively inexpensive addition.

Spaghetti cant wait to see some pictures of your tank as well keep us posted!

The tank is supposed to be here in 2 weeks, most of the other stuff is already ordered, I will keep my Build Thread updated when I get started.

Im not sure but i have heard people not recommending UV on a reef tank. That is what i have heard that it takes out benefical things that the corals benefit from. Hope someone else with more experience on UV would chime in....

I run a Panworld 150 on my 120. I like the results. I think BRS sells them. I picked mine up at Salty Critter. HTH

Got it at Pet Mountain along with my Outer Orbit, last week. I was at work when i posted and going by memory, actually it came to $132.21 they had 10% off and free shipping.

It ended Sunday unless they extended it

Are you going to feed the UV and Calcium reactor off the return pump? if yes get the ATB flowstar1500 if no get the Eheim1260

Thats what I am trying to decide, would like it as quiet as possible and even more important I want to minimize the chance for leakage in my hardwood floor.
Any pro's cons to doing it either way?

I just set up a 120 gal tank with a 40 gal sump, Im using two Quite One 3000s. Im happy with the performance, power consumption, and the noise level.

I run a UV and would never run a reef tank without 1. I'll tell you why.

I was noticing a while back that my tank just didn't look right and I was having to clean the glass like 3x as much as normal. I just thought it was a phase or something. After about 2-3 weeks I was like what the heck is going on. So I started checking all my equipment. And sure enough the only thing wrong was my UV bulb had blown. I replaced it and everything was back to normal in a few days. So I personally will always use them.

Ive used mags and just bought a panworld. Id go with the panworld....great pump, great price, less heat exchange.(I did do the fan mod for less noise)

I would go with two Iwaki MD20RLXT's. You want to add some redundancy wherever possible. I learned this lesson while on a three week trip to Thailand when my house sitter could not get my mag twelve to come back on after a power outage.

Also the external pumps usually add a lot less heat to your tank.
