What size clown trigger to buy

I'm looking to buy a clown trigger. I saw one at a local store that was about 2 inches long. Currently in my 210 I've got a blue hippo and a yellow tang that are both about 3 inches long. If I added a 2" clown trigger would I be asking for trouble?

imo he wont be a problem now but as they grow they will get more aggresive. i would add all other fish you wish to add first then make the clown trigger your last.

I don't plan on putting any other fish in the tank because I want to get them good sized and don't want to overcrowd the tank.

My friend had luck with smaller clown triggers by slowing the flow in his tank. He removed the one of two Koralia 4 for a months then putting the Koralia 4 back in. This was in a 210 also.

What did the flow have to do with the success with clown triggers?

He said when he had his first one in the tank the extra flow kept him hiding in the rocks. It wouldn't come out to eat or swim and ended up dying. The second one he noticed the same behavior and then slowed the water flow. With in a few hours it came out a little bit. After a month it was swimming around like nothing.

Intersting. I have had a Humu Humu and a Sargassum who LOVED when I had both Koralia Evo 1400 turned on.

The little "baby", yellow nosed CTs are very hard to acclimate and have a poor record surviving. Get one past the yellow nose state and they're easy. You seem well aware of the CTs reputation and its well deserved. they can go postal at any time...fascinating fish though.

I am confused by the yellow nose stage. I am planning on getting on for my last fish in my 150 FOWL tank. I looked only at some pictures and they all appear to have the yellow nose. I was jsut wanting some clearity. What size does this stage end at also. About how many inches when the "hard acclimation" stage ends. If I buy online I would like to get the size that would be safe.

Look up a clown trigger on Live Aquaria. The picture shows a juvenile and a adult. The juvenile clearly has the yellow nose stage going on, whereas the larger one has the distinguished yellow mouth area but it's separated by the black of the body by a while line.

The yellow nose stage he's refering to is when the whole front of the face is yellow, like when the fish is 2-3" long. It gets defined down to the adult pattern around 3-4", you're fine in that range.
