What size pump

Loved the auto water change talk at the last FMAS meeting. How big of a pump do I need to pump water through a 30 foot garden hose?

How many vertical feet?

Mag5 or mag7 will push thru that as long as your vertical rise is less than 3 feet

My iwaki30 pushes thru 50 feet and a 5 ft vertical rise to do water changes on my freshwater tank

5-6 feet vertical feet. I guess. Should I try a mag 7?

mag 7 should do. We are using a mag7 on matt's denitrator; it filled the 30gal chamber in about 5min. It only had to lift the water about 3 feet and a distance of maybe 6 feet. I'm sure it will work for you, it would make a good backup pump also
