What size pump

I am thinking it time to get a new pump. What size should I get for a 90 gallon with 1 overflow. Its a normal size stand so the head is about 4-5 feet. I might also like to split it off to a phosban reactor and or a UV.

What about brands?

Depends how much flow you're going for and how much your overflow can take. I would suggest one of the smaller sequence pumps, as I hear nothing but great reviews about them from reefers. I'm running a little giant, and while it works consistently, it's loud and vibrates the hood on top of my tank because of the frequency of the vibration. I've run a Mag9.5 for a skimmer too, and it was loud as well. Certainly not as loud as the LG, but loud regardless. The Sequence Dart and Eheim pumps are supposed to be quiet and reliable.

Quiet will be a big factor. Thank you.

The overflow is rated at 600GPH. But I dont think it really gets that.

Anyone else have a opinion or use these pumps?

i second the Eheim..I have a 1260 on my 55 and I could hear a needle drop next to it compared to the external Iwaki on my new 92 corner setup. Im probably going to swap the Iwaki for the 1260 or get a 1262 when i break down the 55

Didn't mean to hi-jack Ninja, but I've only heard good things about the Ehiem pumps.

Ahoyboy, do you use the 1260 externally or submerged? I'm thinking of upgrading my EV-120's pump to a 1260.

That says its not self priming. I know that that means that it wont suck water when dry but then how do you prime it and what if the power goes out. Does it start back up?

i run it submerged, i havent tried it external. if i get the 1262 i will it external since the new sump is already drilled

oh by the way i might be selling it in a few weeks if i manage to break down my 55g if your interested
