What size QT

biger

Just wondering what size QT most people consider good all around. Right now I am using a 12 gal. Doesn't seem big enough for larger fish like tangs for example.

IMO, a 20 long is a good starter size. Even fish like tangs can survive the short confines of QT in a tank of this size. Try to factor in the type of fish you want to keep, as well as their adult size. If you plan to keep larger angels, tangs, tirggers, etc, then go larger. I use a 40 breeder, which works well even for my more sizeable fish. If you're looking to keep small clowns, gobies, etc, then a tank your size is fine.

Hey Jerry, thanks for the input. I was thinking about getting a 20 long just for the few bigger fish I might get. Mostly planning on smaller fish with 1 or 2 larger but was still planning on trying to get them small and watch them grow.
