What size return line?

So I have an 80 gallon peninsula style tank, 48x24x16. I'm sick of having the return line come over the glass and into the tank, so I want to drill it. I have one 3/4" return but I think I might make it two, one on both sides of the overflow box, do you guys think that's an overkill?
Also what bulkheadsand drill bits do you recommend?

Larger diameter return line has the single greatest effect on calculated head pressure lose. Basically the bigger the ID the better.

Look at BRS web site and I will tell you what size bit you need for any bulkhead size. Look at the bits, the information is listed there.

1" ID I believe is what I use, and what is commonly used. I like the flexible clear for the return.

1" is fine for upto about 1000gph, if your pump is rated much higher I would strongly consider 1 1/4" or larger PVC.
