what size sump is needed?

I have an approx 400 gal tank and I have approx 96Lx24Wx42H under the tank to work with.
I was told that I needed a 55x24x30, Thats too high,
Does any one have an ideal of what size I could use?
I rather have one made, instead of using just anything..

With that size under the tank maybe you can have a split sump with a fuge. You have a lot of room underneath. As stated in many threads the bigger the better. I have a sump and a fuge under my 240 both are 48x18x18 connected together. You can have made or make something that will fit your situation. The dimensions you stated above? Why? What is driving that?
