Im stuck, i just got a SRO for my brothers 150 but it has yet to be setup yet. Im siding toward that since the local forum talked me out of the Vertex alpha.

Just looking for some input from you guys! I appreciate it!

The Swc is an excellent skimmer (well balanced). The Askoll pump is one of the best pumps in the industry. I have an SWC Xtreme Cone 180 with Sicce pump. I upgraded to a Red Devil pinwheel and this thing works very well on my 125/35 sump. The Askoll pump is worlds beyond the Sicce so it can only be an even better Skimmer. No comparison IMO to Bubble Blasters. ETSS skimmers are not to my liking at all. They'll require an extra expense. A powerful pump (more electricity and $$$$) and are less efficient. Again this is only 1 opinion.

I appreciate the opinion, i agree 100% with the ETSS skimmers. I dont like the idea of it needing another expense. I have the majority of people on my local forum saying go with SRO, and very few that say go with SWC thats why i came over here to get some feedback. I appreciate it! I want to know what others think before i make a purchase :)

if it were just the typical 180 and sump Iwould say the 3000 would be perfect. But with the larger sump and water volume plus the frag tank at a heavy Volume I would jump up to the 5000 int. ITs a great skimmer and I think you would be more than happy with the performance.

Thats what my thoughts were as well bud. I appreciate the heads up. I linked 2 different 500int. One a cone and one the reg SRO. Thoughts on these 2? My initial thought was the cone

Also Why the 5000 rather then the swc?
Thanks!

The original link of the sro5000int is what I would go with. That is MEGA bang for the buck, I know I own one and it is AWESOME! The bb series are killer pumps and the body of the skimmer is part cone anyways.

Also the bb pump will equal the askoll 1500 performance wise and do it drawing 20w less which is a meager but real savings of around $20 a year in electricity if your close to .11 cents per KWH. Over the warranty period of the pump, that is about $60 in ownership savings.

Last note, note sure what the warranty is on the swc askoll, but it is 3 years on the bb / coralvue pump.

You can see it blasting away here. This pic was around the day I started it up on the new build, nothing in the tank so not a lot of skim at this point. Will have to take some updated pics, it produces some nastyness.

I appreciate the input! I dont know what the major difference between the 2 are other then the body. Would one be better then the other? Im sure they will both beast away. What water level are you keeping yours at? I think i might have to make some sort of riser because i was planning on keeping the water around 10" in the sump and i think they want somewhere between 6-6.5"
